Luxury Bespoke Carpentry for a Leeds City Centre Penthouse
At New Creation Joinery, we specialise in creating bespoke fitted furniture and custom carpentry for homes across Leeds. This large penthouse apartment in Leeds city centre gave us the opportunity to work on a collection of high-end joinery features, each designed to bring style, storage and a luxury finish to the property.
The project included a media wall, drinks bar, bedroom furniture, fitted wardrobes, staircase, wall panelling and TV storage. Every element was made to measure, designed around the apartment’s layout and crafted to suit the client’s vision
Open-Plan Media Wall with Integrated Fireplace
One of the standout features of this project was the open-plan media wall. Designed to become a focal point within the living area, it incorporated an integrated electric fireplace with a tiled surround for a clean, modern finish.
The cabinets were made using walnut and sprayed in black while still allowing the natural wood grain to show through. To add texture and depth, the backs of the cabinets were finished with fluted detailing, giving the media wall a more refined and bespoke appearance.
The result was a practical yet striking feature wall that brought together storage, display space and a warm, inviting focal point for the room.
Bespoke Coat Storage with Bronze and Granite Details
On the opposite side of the media wall, we created a bespoke coat storage area with a luxurious finish. This included a Cosmic Black granite LED mirror, with bronze sheet metal fitted behind the mirror to create a premium contrast against the dark joinery.
The design also included polished bronze handles and LED strip underlighting, helping to lift the darker tones and add a subtle glow to the space. The combination of black sprayed walnut, bronze detailing and carefully placed lighting created a smart, high-end finish that suited the penthouse setting perfectly.
Custom Drinks Bar with Antique Mirror and Corian Worktop
The bespoke drinks bar was another major feature within the apartment. Designed to be both functional and eye-catching, the bar included bronze sheet metal around the drinks and glass storage area, with bronze detailing also used across the top of the bar.
A mirrored back added depth and character, using antique patterned glass from Halifax Glass to create a more distinctive finish. The bar was completed with a coffee-coloured Corian worktop, giving it a durable, smooth and elegant surface.
To add texture, we used half-round dowels to create a fluted finish, giving the bar an interesting feel and a handcrafted look. This detail helped the drinks bar stand out as a bespoke feature rather than a standard fitted unit.
Bespoke Fitted Bedroom Furniture
The bedroom furniture was designed to create a luxury hotel-style feel within the penthouse. A large bespoke headboard became the centrepiece of the room, featuring bronze inlay details and a fabric panel using Warwick Beaufort fabric.
The headboard was surrounded by bronze inlay and included the same antique patterned glass used elsewhere in the project, helping to tie the design together across the apartment. Embedded classic lights and smaller pop-out reading lights were incorporated into the walnut side sections, combining style with practical everyday use.
The walnut backing was painted black, with black bedside tables built into the overall design for a seamless fitted finish.
Curved Panelled Fitted Wardrobes
We also designed and installed bespoke fitted wardrobes for the bedroom. These featured curved panelled doors with T-bar handles in polished brass, creating a soft but luxurious look.
The wardrobe panels included cream wallpaper inserts, adding texture and helping the fitted wardrobes feel more decorative and personalised. Inside, we used walnut laminate to give the wardrobes a premium internal finish.
The interiors also included anthracite metal box drawers with a soft-close mechanism, providing practical storage while maintaining the quality feel of the overall design.
Bespoke Open-Tread Staircase Built from Scratch
A major part of the project involved completely building a new staircase from scratch. This was designed as a single winder staircase with a landing and open treads.
Each step was carefully made with a lip over the stair below, allowing us to hide the LED strip lighting. This meant the stairs had a soft glow without the strip light itself being visible, creating a much cleaner and more premium finish.
The staircase was paired with black wall panelling, finished in black laminate with a 10mm shadow gap. This added depth and definition to the space while keeping the overall look modern and sharp.
TV Storage, Shelving and Floating Displays
To complete the living space, we also created shelving below the TV unit, along with a separate TV column and floating shelves. These elements were designed to provide extra storage and display space while keeping the room clean and uncluttered.
By combining bespoke storage, carefully selected materials and made-to-measure joinery, we were able to create a consistent finish across the whole penthouse apartment.
