Modernising Fitted Wardrobes and Hiding a Chimney

Replacing Fitted Wardrobes in Leeds with a Sleek look and Enhanced Functionality

At New Creation Joinery, we love breathing new life into old spaces. Recently, we were invited to transform a set of outdated fitted wardrobes for a customer in Leeds, who was looking to modernise their bedroom with a fresh, contemporary look. The existing wardrobes had served their purpose for many years, but it was time for a change – and we were ready to deliver just that!

The Challenge: Modernising Old Wardrobes

The customer wanted to update their wardrobes with a sleek, minimalist design that would make the most of their space. They requested flat slab doors in a beautiful Nordic laminate wood, which would create a clean and modern feel in the room. Our job was to design new wardrobes that would enhance the room's style while cleverly integrating some unique features and hiding a chimney breast that ran through the space.

The Transformation: A Fresh, Clean Look

We started by removing the old wardrobes and taking careful measurements to make the best use of the available space. To achieve the modern aesthetic the customer desired, we chose flat slab doors in Nordic laminate wood. This material brought a light, natural finish to the wardrobes, adding a Scandinavian touch that brightens the room and makes it feel more spacious.

Interior Details: Stylish and Functional

Inside, we kept things crisp and fresh with a white laminate finish. The customer wanted a few drawers for extra storage, so we incorporated several soft-close anthracite drawers, adding a contemporary contrast to the clean white interior. The soft-close feature not only enhances usability but also gives a refined, luxury feel.

One of the standout features we added was a small vanity unit with a mirror. This unit includes a convenient drawer and a wire management hole, providing a perfect spot for getting ready. It’s an ideal solution for storing beauty essentials or styling tools, keeping everything organised and easily accessible.

Hiding the Chimney Breast: A Smart Solution

A key challenge in this project was the chimney breast, which needed to be concealed within the new design. We tackled this by creating wardrobes with shallower shelves in the section where the chimney breast was located. This design not only hid the chimney seamlessly but also maximized the storage potential without compromising on aesthetics.

The Final Reveal: A Stunning Modern Transformation

The finished wardrobes were exactly what the customer had envisioned – a modern, clean, and stylish solution that transformed the entire room. The flat slab doors in Nordic laminate wood provided a sleek, contemporary feel, while the white interior and anthracite drawers added a cohesive, modern look. The vanity unit with its mirror, drawer, and wire management hole offered a practical and elegant area for getting ready, perfectly blending function with style.
