We recently had the exciting challenge of transforming a brand-new hair salon in Leeds, designing and installing custom joinery to create a modern, functional, and stylish space. With a tight one-week deadline, this project required late evenings and precise craftsmanship to ensure everything was completed on time.
The Brief
The salon owner wanted a sleek, modern look with a fully functional workspace that would enhance the experience for both stylists and clients. Key requirements included:
A long workstation with multiple hairdressing stations
Built-in electrical outlets for seamless styling
A backlit custom mirror to create a bright, modern feel
A preparation area for styling tools and products
A bespoke reception desk to create a welcoming first impression
High-quality materials, including Kirion worktops, oak frames, and glass details

To achieve the client’s vision, we designed and installed a fully custom salon interior, balancing style and functionality.
Workstation & Backlit Mirror
We installed a long, streamlined workbench with built-in electrical outlets, ensuring stylists had easy access to power. The large, custom-made backlit mirror enhances visibility and adds a sleek, modern touch. The oak frames with glass detailing elevated the space, giving it a high-end finish while maintaining a warm and natural look.
Reception Desk – A Stylish & Functional Statement Piece
The reception area is the first thing clients see when they enter, so we knew it needed to make an impact. We designed a bespoke curved reception desk with narrow wooden slats, creating a simple yet modern aesthetic. The slatted wood effect introduced earthy, natural tones, giving the salon a warm and welcoming feel while maintaining a minimalist, high-end look.
Aside from looking great, the desk had to be highly functional. We incorporated smart storage solutions, ensuring that all essential items could be stored out of sight from clients while keeping everything easily accessible for the salon team. Given the compact space, we carefully designed the desk to fit perfectly within the area, maintaining an uncluttered and spacious reception zone.
The Final Result
The finished salon is a bright, modern, and fully functional space, ready to welcome clients and support stylists in their daily work. The combination of sleek, custom joinery and practical design has resulted in a salon that is not only visually appealing but also perfectly suited to the needs of the business.
